Help Armenia Through a Hard Winter
Armenia has been hit especially hard on two fronts—from COVID-19 and from a surge in families fleeing the escalating violence in Nagorno-Karabakh, which Armenians call Artsakh.
Every year, working with our partner, Armenian Caritas, we lend our support to their vital Warm Winter project. This winter, as Armenia faces a worsening pandemic, and an influx of people displaced by violence, we are asking for your generous help.
With your generosity, we’ll provide over 700 elderly poor—the “new orphans”— with something precious and rare during these brutal months: warmth. You’ll be giving fuel for small stoves in humbles houses—many little more than shacks in the barren hills, built as “temporary” housing following a devastating earthquake in 1988. You’ll bring firewood, gas, or electric heat to people who are struggling simply to survive. You’ll also ensure that these elderly people have medical supplies, food and first aid.
Most importantly, you’re giving the precious gift of hope: the hope that someone cares. The hope that a winter of hardship will give way to a spring of renewal. The hope and reassurance that someone remembers those who are often forgotten.
