Support St. Anthony Dispensary in Lebanon
The Good Shepherd Sisters at the St. Anthony Dispensary, just outside Beirut, provide loving care to patients in a country where medicine is especially limited.
The surrounding neighborhood is home to thousands of refugees from Palestine and Syria, who would otherwise go without medical care. In addition to basic care, the dispensary also provides clinics for ophthalmology, dermatology, dental care and osteoporosis — a tremendous help to so many elderly residents at high risk of bone disease.
When COVID-19 struck, the dispensary adapted immediately. As Sister Antoinette Assaf, the clinic’s director, explained, “Most hospitals and health clinics focused mainly on COVID-19 patients. People suffering from other serious illnesses, such as heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, were left unattended. All the measures taken at the [dispensary] were designed to keep doors open to these patients in a safe environment, free from contagion.”
This year, your support can help the clinic serve more than 1,500 patients and offer them healing and hope.
